Meet Deborah

E-R.Y.T. 500, C.A.C., I.A.Y.T.

Deborah has been a student of yoga since the age of 13. As and athlete and dancer, yoga gave her the awareness of her body that kept her away from severe injury.

Deborah has studied with Aadil Palkhivala, Judith Lasiter and many others. She has studied many modalities of yoga, but has continued to stick with her Iyengar background.

Her studies in Tibetan Buddhism have been under the guidance of many teachers. In 2004, she studied the Lam Rim Chen Mo with ZaChoeje Rinpoche of the Emaho Foundation in Scottsdale, Arizona and is now a part of Sogyal Rinpoche's Rigpa organization. She has also studied the Bagavad Gita, Patajalis Sutras and many other texts dealing with a yogic life.

In August of 2006, Deborah graduated with the first class of the Purna Yoga, 2,000 hour college under the guidance of Aadil and Savitri Palkhivala. It was this path that lead her to the deeper studies of Ayurveda.

She received a counseling certificate from Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Ayurveda. Continuing her advanced studies with Dr. Yashashree(Yash) Mannur (BAMS) of Shubham Ayurveda, she traveled to India in March of of 2010 and spent 5 weeks studying and observing clinicals in Punarvasu Chikitsalaya in Pune, India. Along with her classmates, she was able to observe and sometimes participate in many Pancha Karma Therapies, as well as observe many chronically ill cases being treated solely through Ayurveda.

Deborah is continuing her studies with Punarvasu Prabodhini in Pune, India. She is part of a small group of students participating in and Advanced Clinical Program to be able to bring the complete medical practice of Ayurveda to the bay area.
